While these programs were highly popular and attracted thousands of participants, the episode highlights concerns about their intensity and the pressure placed on attendees. Critics and former members described Teen Mania’s methods as emotionally and physically demanding, with some alleging that the organization employed manipulative tactics characteristic of cult-like behavior. In part 3, we look at a 1920s congressman from Georgia by the name of William D. Upshaw & the unique impact he ended up having on the Branham Cult. William D. Upshaw was a United States Congressman and revivalist from Georgia who was closely affiliated with William Joseph Simmons during the early years of the 1915 Ku Klux Klan and later with Roy E. Davis as Davis rose to the rank of the Imperial Wizard of the Klan. Upshaw was known as the "driest of the dries" for his position against drinking alcohol, helped turn the State of Georgia into the first "dry state", and almost single-handedly led Simmons and the Klan to victory during the 1921 Congressional Hearings. Upshaw helped promote William Branham's revivals by posing as a wheelchair invalid at Roy Davis' request, advertised other revivalists in the Voice of Healing/Latter Rain revivals, and toured with the Branham campaigns until his death in 1952. How did the exactly KLU-KLUX-KLAN formulate & how much influence did they really have in U.S. politics at that time? In part 2, we continue in the mid 1920’s & look at the formulation of a unique relationship between William Branham & Roy E Davis. Roy Davis was an evangelist from Texas who ordained William Branham into the Pentecostal faith, mentored Branham in his church, and taught Branham to drink poison to gain new converts. Davis was also an official spokesperson for William Joseph Simmons in both the 1915 Ku Klux Klan and the Knights of the Flaming Sword white supremacy groups, and eventually an Imperial Wizard of the K.K.K. Davis fled to Jeffersonville, IN after a series of criminal activities ranging from bank robbery and swindling to bigamy and sexual crimes. Before those crimes were exposed and he was extradited on charges of Grand Theft, Davis planted the church that would become Branham's "Billie Branham Pentecostal Tabernacle" and eventually the "Branham Tabernacle" when Branham's stage persona transitioned to "Baptist". Continuing last weeks discussion on the relationship between New Thought cults and the Word of Faith movement, we are joined by former New Thought proponent Melissa Doughtery and ex New Ager Steven Bancarz to examine positive confessionalism. This “name it and claim it” doctrine originated in the late 1800s with the teaching known as the Law of Attraction, first coined by Luciferian Helena Blavatsky, and became a staple teaching in New Thought and New Age philosophy. Statements such as “you possess what you confess” (Kenyon) and “you can have what you say” (Hagin) are classic lines by prominent Word of Faith fathers, though these principles originate from the metaphysical schools of the late 19th century. Positive confessionalism has worked its way into some very influential modern-day charismatic churches who have began to embrace the likes of Copeland and Hinn within their circles, refurbishing this doctrine under the new titles “declaration” and “decree”. Join us as we discuss the pervasiveness, error, and danger of this staple WOF doctrine and its relationship to the New Thought cults of past and present.

The Word of Faith movement is often critiqued for its health and wealth Gospel, charismatic abuses, and the antics of its televangelists. What’s talked about less often is its historical ties to the metaphysical cults of the late 1800s, and its doctrinal parallels to New Thought and New Age spirituality. Word of Faith grandfather E. W. Kenyon (1867-1948) was influenced by New Thought teachers such as Phineas Quimby and Mary Baker Eddy, thanks to his extensive metaphysical library and the influence of New Thought at his college of study. These teachings later become adopted and intensified by the father of the modern WOF movement Kenneth E. Hagin, who inspired the likes of Copeland, Roberts, and Hinn. We begin Part 2 of our discussion of Jeffrey Epstein by discussing a candid video of an ABC news anchor admitting that she was directed to bury and ignore Epstein stories back to 2016. Epstein's contact book connects Epstein to the NXIVM (nex-eee-um) cult. NXIVM is publicly a multi-level marketing company but the US Government states that NXIVM is a cult. NXIVM is connected to several breakaway Mormon communities in northern Mexico by procuring girls from these Mormon communities to serve in NXIVM's compounds on the north-eastern seaboard. We paint a picture of a child-trafficking route that existed in the Finders' time from the north-eastern seaboard down through Mexico and the continuation of this child-trafficking route under Epstein's supervision into the modern day. We discuss the profit motive of and the profitability of the trafficking routes. We conclude by discussing occult religious angles to Epstein's activities; the temple on his island, his obsession with improving the human genome by siring a new generation of supermen using himself as a template and the tenets of theistic Satanism and how those same tenets may apply to Epstein's activities and objectives.
