We dive into the reality that millions are stepping away from traditional churches, not from faith but in search of authentic mission and mental health support outside of church walls. Through digital mental health initiatives, churches can break new ground by addressing addiction and equipping leaders to reach people in spaces they’re already engaging with every day. We attempt to help define the church's role—from merely an in-person gathering to a mission that addresses people’s real mental health and discipleship needs online. We challenge church leaders to go beyond ministry-as-usual and view digital communities as critical spaces for mental health advocacy and support. This is a call for churches to support those who feel isolated from traditional models and equip covocational leaders to thrive digitally.
