We suffer today from a severe lack of biblical ecclesiology. Our culture takes secular outrage and places a spiritual label on it, often confusing faithful shepherding with abuse. First Peter 5 commands elders to exercise oversight willingly, not lording their authority over the flock. Yet, when pastors offer biblical reproof, they are frequently met with worldly resistance. Shepherds are not inerrant. The church must measure all things by Scripture and extend grace to mature men of God.
