The modern world presents a constant challenge to the Christian faith, making biblical discernment more critical than ever. Believers are called to be ready for defending the faith, but this must always be done with gentleness and respect, having as your goal the giving of an explanation for what you believe and why you believe it. Rather than merely arguing for intellectual entertainment or to win an argument, Christians must rely on presuppositional apologetics, understanding that true conversion is solely the work of the Holy Spirit. By trusting the word of God and remaining immersed in sound doctrine, we can effectively answer error with absolute truth. We must also carefully recognize the dangers of culturally driven churches that organize around temporal preferences, racial identities, or worldly hobbies. When asking what does the Bible say about culture within the local church, the answer is profoundly clear. Our identity must be rooted exclusively in Christ Jesus and the one new man, not in the categories created by the world. It is from Christ and His word that we get our instructions for organization, not the culture. The local church should be organized around Christ as preeminent, the word of God, prayer, mutual love for one another, the ordinances given to the Church, and biblical eldership. The church must remain a kingdom of truth and a beacon of sanity, applying biblical truth to every aspect of Christian living. As society descends into further chaos and disorder, many ask how to formulate a faithful Christian response to moral insanity. Navigating culture requires us to live faithfully in every sphere where God places us. We must not react out of anger, nor should we remain silent out of anxiety or fear, we want to be able to respond with a sense of purpose. Speaking out and sharing biblical truth requires us knowing how to maintain a biblical worldview. We won't be able to do that if we don't know why we believe what we believe. So as Christians we must be rooted and grounded in the truth of God's word, allowing it to permeate every area of our lives. In this way we are biblically equipped to have honest and faithful conversations with others when situations and circumstances arise. Finally, believers must rest completely in the sufficiency of Scripture rather than speculating about what God has not explicitly revealed. Whether considering the childhood of Jesus or other theological mysteries, we must subject our minds to the perfect wisdom of God. Introducing philosophy or extra biblical ideas is dangerous. It dilutes and distorts the Scriptures, but also causes confusion among believers and unbelievers alike. True peace and assurance come from affirming only what God affirms and resting in His sovereign boundaries.
